Civil War Naval History Symposium
It's almost time for the 2009 Symposium!

This year's theme is "From Manassas to Casco: Civil War Ironclads in Construction and Combat." Topics will cover the role of ironclad ships in the Civil War, from their design, construction and technology to their use and history in combat.

Speakers for the 2009 Symposium will include:

John Coski, historian for the Museum of the Confederacy; Ozzie Raines, a master model builder whose works are displayed at various facilities (including Port Columbus); Roger Durham, military historian at Carlisle Barracks; Dr. John Quarstein, chief advisor and historian for the USS Monitor project at the Mariner's Museum; and Dr. Gordon Watts, a recognized authority on underwater archaeology, who was involved with the USS Monitor, CSS Alabama and CSS Hunley projects.
