Battle of Columbus book to premier at museum

Join Charles Misulia at Port Columbus for the debut of the new book, "Columbus GA 1865: The Last True Battle of the Civil War" on Friday evening, March 12.
This is a free event, open to the public.
This incredibly deeply researched book tells the story of James H. Wilson's cavalry campaign through Alabama and Georgia, leading to the capture and destruction of Columbus, GA. It is published by the University of Alabama Press.
Meet the author and hear a presentation on the book and the research in involved in its making, in the shadow of the CSS Jackson remains, burned by Wilson's raiders after the battle. Copies of the book are available in the museum's store and can be signed by the author that evening.
"Charles started working on this project years ago," said Port Columbus director Bruce Smith, "while he was still working here part time while a student." Smith said this was the most exhaustive work on the battle he had ever seen.
